DODIE COLAVECCHIO, LSTS
GOALKEEPER TRAINER, IS INDUCTED INTO THE CONNECTICUT STATE SOCCER HALL OF
FAME. Dodie Colavecchio, LSTS FC and Academy Goalkeeper Trainer, was inducted into
the Connecticut State hall of Fame on November 16, 2003. The 12 inaugural
girl soccer inductees included players, coaches, officials, administrators,
and media, and were honored at the annual Connecticut Girls Soccer Coaches
Association Hall of Fame banquet at the Aqua Turf Club in Southington, CT.One of the five players chosen for the Hall of Fame’s first class, included Dodie Colavecchio, who was a 4-year starter in goal for Farmington High School from 1980-1984. With her help, the Indians advanced to the State Championship semifinals in her freshman and sophomore years and became State Champions in her junior and senior years. She recorded 40 career shutouts in her four years for the Indians. Dodie was a 4-time All State goalkeeper and in her junior and senior years and was named to the All-New England and All-American squads both years. She was also named the CT State Player of the Year in 1984. In the summer of 1983, Colavecchio was a US Eastern Regional Team member. She attended Princeton University from 1984-1988, and was a 4-year starter in goal. She was named the Ivy League Co-Player of the Year in her sophomore year for the Tigers. Dodie was voted team’s MVP in her sophomore, junior and senior years at Princeton. She registered 19 career shutouts and her 232 career Ivy League saves still is top in the record’s book. In 1998, Colavecchio was named to the Ivy League Silver Anniversary Honor Roll Team in commemoration of the first 25 years of women’s varsity athletics in the Ivy League. After obtaining an Architect’s Degree from Princeton University, Dodie served first as interim Girls Soccer Varsity Coach for her “alma mater”, and then agreed to stay as an assistant coach in charge of the goalkeepers, a job that she has done for last 10 years. |
